As well as offering a UK-based programme, Clipper Training also offers training in Singapore. Keppel Bay Sailing Academy is the only centre outside the UK accredited to offer Clipper Training.

Clipper's overseas training offers two training programmes with an identical focus to those in the UK.

Level 1 introduces you to the basic principles of sailing and teaches you personal safety and sea survival techniques along with the principles of good seamanship.

Level 2 introduces key racing skills, spinnakers and boat to boat communication via VHF radio as well as developing all of the skills you learned at Level 1.

Crew who complete Levels 1 and 2 at Keppel Bay Sailing Academy, Singapore will need to complete an Introduction to Big Boat Sailing course in the UK. The focus of the course will be the transfer of your new skills to the Clipper Race yachts while also introducing new techniques specific to big boat sailing. Once you have completed this course you will progress through Levels 3 and 4 as normal.

Overseas - Level 1
In the same manner as the UK-based Level 1 course, at the Clipper Training Centre at KBSA you will be introduced to the basic principles of sailing. The course teaches personal safety and sea survival techniques along with the principles of good seamanship and the importance of teamwork on board.

You will learn all of the basic crewing skills which will become the bedrock of your sailing expertise. During the course you will undertake a dedicated session on sea survival where you will learn key skills for both your personal safety and the safety of your fellow crew mates. It will also provide an important insight into the inherent risks involved in ocean racing and, most importantly, how to minimise them.
